Freeware Star Wars Game with awesome TRON modification!

Bruno R. Marcos is an independent game developer who has created a trio of really nice arcade space shooters based on Star Wars. Star Wars: Battle of Yavin, Endor, and Hoth are completely free and a lot of fun!

SW: BOY screen shot 1

In Battle of Yavin, you play as Luke Skywalker, piloting an X-Wing. Your mission is to assault and destroy the Death Star. You fight a wave of Tie Fighters in space, then you fight on the Death Star’s surface, make the trench run, and try not to get blasted by Darth Vader’s ship in three intense stages of action.

It’s not exactly “freespace”, in the sense that, you can only go so high and so low (no loops, for example), but you can pretty much fly all over the place as you take out Ties and even Star Destroyers. It’s very arcade, but very fun. Oh, but wait… it gets better. What makes this REALLY blog worthy is that there’s a mod that turns the whole game into… TRON!

TRON!

Be aware, though, that if you install the TRON mod it basically overwrites the game and you can’t get the original back unless you reinstall it. It would be cool if these could co-exist, but for some reason it can’t work that way.
